About the Role

Join Discord’s Design Systems team, a group at the heart of crafting seamless, accessible, and beautiful product experiences across platforms. You’ll contribute to Mana, our design system, empowering teams to ship faster with consistent UI patterns across iOS, Android, web, and desktop.

In this role, you’ll build powerful tools and components, support accessibility, and help define how Discord scales design quality across products. You’ll collaborate across functions, shape the user experience for millions, and work with talented Staff+ engineers to continually grow your technical skills.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Develop and evolve Mana, Discord’s cross-platform design system.
• Build high-quality, accessible components for mobile, web, and desktop apps.
• Create internal tools like Figma plugins, codemods, and lint rules to streamline adoption.
• Collaborate closely with designers and product teams, offering guidance and support.
• Deliver thoughtful documentation, interactive prototypes, and user research-informed improvements.
• Participate in code reviews, mentor peers, and contribute to cross-functional teamwork.

What You Should Bring

• 4+ years of software engineering experience, shipping products or internal tools.
• 1+ year working directly on a design system.
• Strong expertise in React, TypeScript, or mobile development (React Native, Swift, Kotlin, etc.).
• Deep knowledge of accessibility and UI standards.
• Clear written communication and documentation skills.
• A collaborative, growth-oriented mindset.
