Team Overview

Our Institutional Onboarding team consists of high-functioning, compliance-focused professionals who are dedicated to mitigating risk for both Coinbase and its clients. The team collaborates with internal stakeholders such as Sales, Account Managers, Compliance, and Engineering to drive a seamless onboarding experience for institutional clients.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive KYC/AML reviews for institutional clients (corporations, financial institutions, trusts, etc.)
• Communicate directly with high-profile clients for documentation, platform walkthroughs, and onboarding assistance
• Conduct investigative reviews and risk analysis aligned with Coinbase’s regulatory compliance standards
• Analyze documentation, client responses, and application data for regulatory and internal compliance
• Document findings and recommendations in systems such as Salesforce and Ironclad
• Determine the need for EDD escalations, recommend application decisions (approval, rejection), and flag suspicious activities
• Stay current with industry regulations (KYC, BSA/AML, OFAC) and apply them to onboarding reviews
• Collaborate cross-functionally with teams and external regulatory bodies as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent
• Minimum 1+ years of experience in client onboarding and AML/KYC compliance
• Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g., BSA, OFAC, FinCEN)
• Experience with institutional business models, beneficial ownership structures, and regulatory documentation
• Proficient in English; exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with Salesforce, Google Suite, and other compliance tools
• Flexibility to work defined shifts and participate in weekend/on-call rotations

Preferred Qualifications

• CAMS certification (a plus, but not required)
• Experience using tools like Jira
• Proven success in fast-paced, high-growth environments
• Strong attention to detail and comfort working with ambiguity
