With clients like BNY Mellon, BNP Paribas, ANZ Bank, and Revolut, we are shaping the future of institutional cryptocurrency adoption.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Director of Compliance to develop, implement, and oversee critical aspects of Fireblocks’ Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) Compliance Program. This role is instrumental in ensuring compliance with U.S. regulations while supporting Fireblocks' growing suite of regulated services for institutional clients.
Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Compliance and Chief Compliance Officer, you will lead a small but expanding compliance team and serve as a key point of contact for regulators, auditors, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement BSA/AML and Sanctions Compliance Program components, including transaction monitoring, customer due diligence, and governance.
- Oversee and execute compliance operations such as name screening, investigations, suspicious activity reporting (SARs), and regulatory filings.
- Serve as the responsible officer for ensuring SARs are filed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Manage compliance risk assessments for new products, services, and partnerships.
- Act as a key liaison for regulatory inquiries, audits, licensing applications, and renewals.
- Provide strategic guidance on regulatory compliance across the organization, ensuring adherence to U.S. financial laws and best practices.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement technology-driven compliance solutions.
- Work cross-functionally with legal, finance, product, and risk teams to embed compliance best practices into Fireblocks' operations.
- Lead compliance reporting and risk assessments for executive leadership and board members.
Requirements
- 10+ years of compliance experience in regulated financial institutions (banking, payments, fintech, or crypto).
- Deep understanding of BSA/AML, CTF, and sanctions compliance programs in the U.S. financial sector.
- Experience working with payments, banking, correspondent banking, or digital asset firms.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks for money service businesses (MSBs) or banks.
- Proven track record in designing and executing AML compliance programs.
- People management experience with the ability to lead and scale teams.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive approach to risk management.
- Exceptional communication skills, with experience presenting to regulators, auditors, and executive leadership.
Nice to Have
- Experience in the crypto/Web3 space or familiarity with blockchain-based compliance challenges.
- Background in federal or New York-regulated financial institutions, consulting, or regulatory agencies.
- Experience designing transaction monitoring detection scenarios and managing model validation assessments.
- Advanced degree in finance, law, or a related field (Juris Doctor, Master’s in Finance, etc.).
- Industry certifications such as Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or blockchain analytics certifications (e.g., Chainalysis Reactor).
- Interest in digital assets, stablecoins, tokenization, and blockchain infrastructure.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $200,000 - $250,000 (dependent on experience and location).
- Bonus & Equity: Competitive performance-based incentives.
- Comprehensive Benefits Package: Including healthcare, retirement plans, and paid time off.
- Growth & Development: Work at the forefront of digital asset security and compliance in a fast-growing industry.
