About the Role

As a Front End Lead Engineer, you will take ownership of designing, building, and optimizing the Heroku user interface. You will leverage modern front-end technologies to enhance platform performance, accessibility, and user experience. This role involves leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, and ensuring high-quality software development practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop & enhance the Heroku UI using modern front-end technologies.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to plan and implement new features.
• Ensure high performance & accessibility across all web applications.
• Lead technical initiatives and drive the evolution of front-end architecture.
• Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and promote best practices.
• Optimize web applications using modern tools like Webpack, Vite, and Chrome DevTools.
• Improve front-end security by mitigating risks like XSS attacks and CSRF vulnerabilities.
• Participate in on-call rotation for system monitoring and troubleshooting.

Requirements

✅ 6+ years of experience developing and leading large-scale, complex web applications.

✅ Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.

✅ Experience with modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue, Ember, or similar).

✅ Strong knowledge of Web Performance Optimization and DevTools.

✅ Experience with Webpack, Vite, or JavaScript package management tools.

✅ Deep understanding of modular front-end architecture and component-based UI design.

✅ Experience with responsive web design and accessibility (WCAG standards).

✅ Knowledge of web security best practices (mitigating DDoS attacks, XSS, etc.).

✅ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to drive technical decisions.

✅ Experience mentoring engineers and fostering a collaborative culture.

Nice to Have

➕ Experience with Ruby on Rails for full-stack collaboration.

➕ Familiarity with ECMAScript Modules (ESM).

➕ Experience with QUnit, Mocha, or other front-end testing frameworks.

➕ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
