Job Overview:
Discord is seeking a Sales Manager to lead the Cross-platform Gaming vertical, focusing on PC/Desktop & Console Advertisers. This leadership position will guide a team of Account Executives (AEs) and Account Managers (AMs) while driving strategic initiatives to grow revenue and manage key relationships with XP gaming clients. You'll be an active participant in the gaming industry, representing Discord at events and guiding clients to achieve their marketing goals using our ad solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of sales professionals (AEs and AMs).
- Establish a high-performance sales culture focused on coaching, collaboration, and growth.
- Work with the Director of Gaming Sales to refine sales processes and optimize team performance.
- Sales & Revenue Growth:
- Own and drive revenue goals for the XP gaming sales team.
- Identify new business opportunities while fostering relationships with existing clients and agencies.
- Guide your team in negotiating and closing high-value deals, supporting them in upfronts and Joint Business Planning with strategic accounts.
- Industry & Market Engagement:
- Serve as a thought leader in the XP gaming industry, attending events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
- Represent Discord's ad solutions and value proposition in external forums.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and competitive dynamics, sharing insights with your team.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal teams (Product, Marketing, RevOps) to align sales efforts with product offerings.
- Provide feedback on advertising solutions and help shape Discord’s advertising business.
- Partner with Marketing to create go-to-market strategies, case studies, and client success stories.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 8+ years in digital advertising, media sales, or brand marketing.
- 3+ years in leadership (team lead, manager, etc.), with a focus on sales performance and team development.
- Industry Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of XP Gaming industry dynamics, advertising, and media buying.
- Proven ability to build and nurture relationships with senior-level clients and agencies.
- Skills:
- Strong track record of meeting and exceeding revenue targets.
- Excellent presentation, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to balance team leadership and individual contributions in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to travel for industry events and key client meetings.
Compensation:
- Base Salary: $320,000 - $360,000 OTE + equity + benefits.
- Compensation is determined by role, level, experience, and relevant education.
