Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct research and experimentation in core AI domains including:
• Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Natural Language Processing (NLP)
• Speech Recognition
• AI for Code
• Automated Data Analytics
• Time-Series Data Analysis
• Visual Inspection / Computer Vision
• Collaborate with a global team of scientists and engineers
• Contribute to model development, data analysis, and software prototyping
• Participate in research discussions, code reviews, and design meetings
• Document and present findings in a clear and professional manner

Qualifications:

Education:

• Currently enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related technical field

Technical Skills:

• Fundamental computer programming skills (e.g., Python, Java, C++)
• Ability to read and understand technical documentation in English
• Knowledge in one or more areas of AI or machine learning preferred

Language:

• Proficient English communication skills (email, meetings, documentation) required
• Interest in cross-cultural collaboration; Japanese language skills are a plus

Soft Skills:

• Passion for AI research and innovation
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
• Team-oriented mindset with attention to detail

Internship Details:

• Duration: Approximately 3 months (flexible based on mutual agreement)
• Working Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:36 PM (flexible)
• Location: IBM Hakozaki Office, Tokyo, Japan (Hybrid)
• Daily Compensation:
• ¥18,000/day (Master’s student, without housing)
• ¥20,000/day (Doctoral student, without housing)
• ¥24,000/day (Master’s student, with housing allowance)
• ¥26,000/day (Doctoral student, with housing allowance)
• Commute Support: Local transportation reimbursed (excluding long-distance travel to Tokyo)
• Visa Requirement: Must be able to obtain a visa and reside in Japan during the internship period

Preferred Experience (Nice to Have):

• Hands-on AI or ML research or project experience
• Experience with scientific computing or AI frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)
• Previous internship or academic experience in an international setting
