Role Summary:
As an Associate Manager – Data Privacy, you will help shape and strengthen PhonePe’s privacy program by supporting the implementation of privacy policies, risk assessments, consent frameworks, and compliance with laws such as India’s DPDPA, GDPR, CCPA, and RBI/SEBI regulations. This role blends legal, regulatory, and technical expertise with internal advisory and operational responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support DPDPA implementation and privacy policy/procedure development
- Advise internal teams on appropriate use and handling of personal data
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and privacy risk reviews
- Monitor evolving global privacy laws and assess business impact
- Review and advise on vendor contracts and third-party data sharing
- Support investigations of privacy incidents, data subject rights, and compliance queries
- Assist in data discovery, data inventory maintenance, and privacy training programs
- Track, test, and improve existing privacy control mechanisms
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Law, Computer Science, InfoSec, or related field
- 4–6 years of experience in data privacy or related compliance roles
- In-depth knowledge of GDPR, DPDPA, CCPA, IT Act, and sectoral regulations (RBI, SEBI, IRDAI)
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills
- Familiarity with data protection frameworks, consent management, and privacy operations
Preferred / Good-to-Have:
- Certifications: DCPP, DCPLA, CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT or equivalents
- FinTech sector experience and understanding of digital financial products
