Role Overview

IMC is seeking a Data Engineer to design and support data infrastructure for their trading and research platforms. The role involves building real-time and batch data pipelines, managing large-scale data systems, and collaborating closely with developers and users.

Core Responsibilities

• Architect and manage Big Data environments (Kafka, Hadoop, Dremio, etc.)
• Develop and monitor data pipelines (Java, Python, Spark, Flink)
• Collaborate on data modeling, ingestion, and capacity planning
• Ensure data integrity and availability across systems
• Serve as subject-matter expert on Big Data tooling and infrastructure

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years in data engineering roles
• 3+ years with Kafka (applications or cluster management)
• 2+ years working with Big Data systems (e.g., S3, HDFS, Iceberg, Databricks)
• Experience with Spark or Flink
• Strong coding skills in Java, Python, and SQL
• Familiarity with Python-based data science tools
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker
• Monitoring tools: Prometheus, Grafana, Alert Manager, Alerta, OpsGenie
• Solid grasp of statistical analysis and Unix scripting
