Introduction:

IBM is seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in DB2 and AWS to join our dynamic team. As an Application DBA, you will be responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of our DB2 environments—particularly those hosted on AWS. This is a hybrid role requiring hands-on experience in cloud-based database management, performance tuning, and implementing robust backup and recovery strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain IBM DB2 databases on AWS RDS
• Optimize database performance, manage queries, and conduct regular health checks
• Design and implement high-availability solutions and disaster recovery plans
• Ensure database security, compliance, and integrity
• Collaborate with application teams for database-related changes and optimizations
• Monitor and troubleshoot issues using tools like AWS CloudWatch
• Document architecture, procedures, and best practices clearly and efficiently

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator
• Strong expertise in IBM DB2 database systems
• Solid understanding of AWS services: RDS, EC2, S3, and CloudWatch
• Proficiency in database performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting
• Experience in database security, compliance, and backup/recovery strategies
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):

• Familiarity with AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or other infrastructure-as-code tools
• Hands-on experience with Oracle, MS SQL Server, or Teradata is a plus
• Background in scripting or automation for database tasks
• IBM or AWS certifications are advantageous

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
