Position: Engineering Manager, Coinbase Card

Location: Remote (U.S.-based)

Type: Full-time

Salary Range: $218,025 – $256,500 USD (plus bonus, equity, and benefits)

🚀 About the Role

This leadership role focuses on building and managing the engineering team behind Coinbase Card, a crypto rewards-based debit card that allows users to spend crypto globally and earn crypto rewards. You'll own everything from card management to transaction processing.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

• Lead full-stack engineering teams supporting both web and mobile platforms
• Own the entire product lifecycle from roadmap to delivery
• Mentor and grow team members, supporting career development
• Drive quarterly planning in coordination with design, product, and senior stakeholders
• Oversee architecture, high-quality code standards, and operational reliability
• Participate in hiring exceptional talent
• Engage in hands-on technical contributions (code reviews, troubleshooting, incident management)

✅ What You Need

Must-Haves

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering
• 2+ years in an engineering management role
• Proven experience with card products at scale (e.g., payment systems, transaction processing, card rewards)
• Strong architectural and systems-thinking skills
• Familiarity with building and operating multi-tenant distributed systems
• Balance of strategic leadership and hands-on execution
• Passion for Coinbase’s mission of building an open financial system

Soft Skills

• Strong communication and stakeholder management
• Bias for execution, even in high-ambiguity environments
• Talent for mentoring and team culture building

🌟 Nice to Haves

• Crypto-native experience (e.g., using Ethereum, ENS, interacting with dApps)
