🧾 Role Responsibilities

As the Engineering Manager for Coinbase Card, you’ll lead development on a crypto-backed debit card product that lets users earn and spend crypto seamlessly worldwide.

🔧 Core Duties:

• Lead & manage full-stack teams building mobile/web crypto card experiences
• Define product architecture, scale infrastructure, and ensure resilience & security
• Translate product vision into an executable engineering roadmap
• Provide mentorship, performance feedback, and career development for engineers
• Be hands-on when needed—code reviews, tech docs, incident response
• Drive engineering SLAs, code quality, and operational excellence
• Partner with recruiting to build high-caliber, crypto-aligned teams

✅ Minimum Qualifications

• 7+ years of engineering experience; 2+ years in a management role
• Strong background in card/payment platforms at scale
• Proven experience leading full product lifecycle—from architecture to operations
• Knowledge of multi-tenanted, distributed systems (cloud-native preferred)
• Ability to balance execution and long-term vision
• Hands-on technical leadership: design reviews, incident management, technical writing
• Execution-oriented; thrives in ambiguous or high-pressure environments

• Crypto-native experience:
• Familiar with onchain concepts (e.g. Ethereum, ENS, dApps)
• Experience in DeFi, self-custody, staking, or NFTs
• Experience with:
• Global payment systems
• Mobile banking
• PCI cmpliance and secure transaction processing
