Salary: $248,000–$279,000 + equity + benefits

As an Engineering Manager - Database Infrastructure, you will lead the team responsible for scaling, maintaining, and innovating on our database infrastructure. Your leadership will ensure the reliability of mission-critical systems and enable new product innovations that reach hundreds of millions worldwide.

What You'll Be Doing

• Define and drive the technical vision and roadmap for Discord's database systems.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a world-class team of infrastructure engineers.
• Build and operate highly reliable and efficient database infrastructure at massive scale.
• Partner closely with teams across Discord to build and deliver new features.
• Maintain high standards for system resilience, performance, and scalability.

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years experience as an Engineering Manager.
• Deep expertise in managing large-scale database systems in complex environments.
• Experience with high-scale distributed systems serving tens or hundreds of millions of users.
• Collaborative spirit: effective across diverse teams and functions.
• Comfort navigating ambiguous and evolving environments, finding pragmatic technical or organizational solutions.
• Passion for coaching engineers and occasionally diving deep into technical challenges.
• Commitment to staying current with industry trends and expanding technical skillsets.

• Location: This role is hybrid — not 100% remote. You must be able to work from the San Francisco office at least 1 day per week.
