Role Overview

Lead Discord’s global IP litigation and patent licensing strategy. Manage patent disputes, IP claims, and pre-litigation matters. Provide legal guidance on copyrights, trademarks, and licensing in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee global patent litigation, licensing negotiations, and pre-litigation activities
• Respond to patent demands and handle settlement discussions
• Manage trade secret and copyright infringement matters
• Advise on DMCA compliance and enforcement policies
• Work with internal IP and product teams on litigation, licensing, and brand strategy

Requirements

• J.D. with active U.S. bar admission
• 10+ years of IP litigation experience, including patents and international matters
• In-house counsel experience at a tech company
• Technical background in software, networking, gaming, or video tech
• Strong communicator with ability to guide execs and engineering teams

Preferred

• USPTO Patent Bar admission
• Experience with SEPs, FRAND licensing, open-source, or developer platforms
• Gaming, communications, or social media industry exposure
