About the role:

Lead the technical vision and roadmap for Discord’s client experience across platforms, focusing on mobile performance in 2025. Manage and grow a team of talented mobile and application engineers to build products that millions love — highly functional, reliable, and performant.

Responsibilities:

• Define and guide technical vision and roadmap for client platforms
• Manage and mentor a team of mobile/app engineers
• Drive high technical standards and delivery
• Collaborate cross-functionally with company leaders to build new features

What you should have:

• 5+ years experience as an Engineering Manager
• Deep knowledge of mobile performance and React Native
• Strong skills in JavaScript/TypeScript, React Native, plus experience with C++ or other low-level languages for performance optimization
• Passion for coaching engineers and solving technical problems hands-on
• Excellent communication skills to foster technical alignment and incorporate diverse perspectives

Bonus Points:

• Experience leading performance, quality, build & release, or architecture teams
• Familiarity with application optimization beyond mobile (web & desktop)
