About the Role:

PhonePe is looking for a highly experienced Engineering Manager (Web) to lead and scale a high-performing development team. You will be responsible for architecting and delivering scalable web systems, driving engineering best practices, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to build customer-centric solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and execute engineering strategy and plans for web applications
• Lead design, architecture, and implementation of scalable, distributed systems
• Drive engineering excellence in code quality, testing, and deployment
• Ensure production hygiene and system reliability
• Partner with product, business, and operations teams to deliver outcomes
• Mentor, grow, and retain top engineering talent
• Manage team performance and career development
• Challenge and refine product requirements based on technical constraints

Requirements:

• BTech/MTech/PhD in Computer Science or related field
• 8+ years of experience in software development
• 3+ years in engineering leadership roles
• Strong knowledge of web technologies, architecture, and system design
• Hands-on experience building large-scale distributed systems
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
• Startup or fast-paced environment experience preferred
