As Head of Public Policy for Latin America at Discord, I lead the company’s regional government affairs and advocacy strategy, building trust and strategic alignment with policymakers, regulators, civil society, and industry peers across Brazil and Latin America. This role is vital in shaping a safe, inclusive digital environment for Discord’s community of 200M+ global users while advancing our mission to foster belonging through gaming and shared interests.

Key Responsibilities:

• Introduce and represent Discord to government officials, regulatory bodies, and civil society groups in Brazil and across Latin America.
• Develop and implement a multi-year advocacy roadmap aligned with Discord’s business goals and user interests, adapting to the dynamic regional legal and regulatory landscape.
• Monitor and respond to evolving policy developments in areas such as digital communications, online safety, data privacy, and content moderation.
• Engage directly and through coalitions to advocate for Discord’s position on relevant legislation and regulation, including public consultations and stakeholder roundtables.
• Support legal and communications teams on regulatory inquiries and compliance matters.
• Promote internal understanding of public policy developments, while encouraging employee engagement on policy priorities.
• Lead regional partnerships with non-profits and civil society organizations to foster responsible digital citizenship.
• Manage government affairs consultants and advisors in Latin America, ensuring strategic consistency and measurable impact.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of senior-level experience in government relations, public policy, or related fields, with deep knowledge of Brazilian and Latin American policy landscapes.
• Proven track record of designing and executing policy campaigns in Brazil; experience in Mexico, Argentina, or Chile is highly desirable.
• Strong network and insight into Latin American legislative and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent communication and diplomacy skills; capable of building consensus across diverse stakeholders.
• Fluency in Portuguese and English; Spanish is a strong plus.
• Willingness to travel regionally and to the U.S. as needed.

Preferred Experience:

• Expertise in tech policy areas like online safety, privacy, cybersecurity, or digital content governance—especially within gaming or social media platforms.
• Experience translating complex technical ideas into accessible, persuasive narratives.
• Background working with or within civil society organizations.
• Strong coalition-building skills and a collaborative leadership style.
