Role Overview:

Lead the design and development of scalable backend services that support HERE’s mapping products. Provide technical direction, mentor engineers, and ensure high-quality, maintainable software across teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems
• Own full software lifecycle – from design to deployment
• Guide architecture decisions and tech stack choices
• Conduct code reviews and ensure engineering best practices
• Mentor team members and promote a culture of learning
• Ensure system reliability via on-call support
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers and stakeholders
• Document solutions and foster knowledge sharing

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• 8–12 years of experience in backend development
• Deep expertise in Java or Scala; willing to learn Python
• Strong in distributed systems, OOP/functional programming
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, REST APIs, AWS, EMR, Apache Spark
• Skilled in testing, networking fundamentals, and performance tuning
