🧩 Role Summary

The Manager of Technology Controls will lead the design, implementation, and oversight of Coinbase’s enterprise-wide technology control framework. This role is embedded within the second line of defense and is mission-critical in building a scalable, resilient, and regulator-ready infrastructure to support Coinbase’s growth.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

• Own the Technology Controls Inventory: Define, implement, and manage a comprehensive inventory of technology controls aligned with regulatory, security, and business standards (e.g. NIST, ISO 27001, COBIT).
• Develop Control Testing Programs: Create and roll out monitoring frameworks to assess control effectiveness, drive issue resolution, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Lead Cross-Functional Engagement: Partner with Engineering, Security, IT, and Risk teams to ensure ownership, understanding, and execution of controls.
• Risk & Controls Assessment: Drive the annual assessment and remediation processes, highlighting gaps and tracking resolution.
• Internal & External Audit Support: Prepare for and manage audits, translating complex technical control environments for regulators and stakeholders.
• Reporting & Escalation: Communicate control posture and project updates to senior leadership and drive accountability across teams.
• Control Governance & Training: Build documentation, provide education to stakeholders, and improve organizational understanding of tech compliance.

✅ Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in technology compliance, IT audit, or risk management, including leading teams or major initiatives.
• Hands-on knowledge of frameworks such as NIST, COBIT, COSO, ISO 27001.
• Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS preferred) in an audit or compliance capacity.
• Proven experience with regulatory readiness and working with auditors and examiners.
• Expertise in operational resilience programs, including knowledge of regulatory regimes like DORA.
• Ability to lead cross-functional projects, influence without authority, and report into executive-level stakeholders.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills—able to translate technical risk into business risk clearly.

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
• Industry certifications: CISA, CISSP, COBIT, or similar.
• Experience in FinTech or the crypto/blockchain space.
