Job Title: Public Policy Advisor

Location: Remote (U.S.-based)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $156,000 – $175,500 base salary + equity + benefits

About the Role:

Discord is seeking a Public Policy Advisor to help shape the company’s engagement with U.S. and Canadian policymakers, regulators, and stakeholders. This role supports Discord’s mission of creating a safer and more inclusive online space, especially as it relates to privacy, cybersecurity, and content moderation. You'll play a key role in advocating for policy positions, monitoring legislation, and building strategic relationships.

You’ll report to the Director of U.S. and Canada Public Policy and collaborate with internal teams (Legal, Comms, Trust & Safety, Policy).

Key Responsibilities:

Represent Discord to government policymakers and educate stakeholders about the company’s mission, products, and safety efforts.
Monitor, analyze, and respond to public policy developments in the U.S. and Canada.
Develop advocacy strategies and public policy content (e.g., position papers, talking points, consultation responses).
Collaborate with industry coalitions and civil society partners to advance aligned interests.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure policy positions reflect internal consensus and strategic goals.

Qualifications:

5+ years in public policy, government, or government relations.
In-depth knowledge of the U.S. policymaking landscape.
Experience in tech-related policy issues (e.g., privacy, online safety, cybersecurity).
Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated success building trust across varied stakeholder groups.
Willingness to travel as needed within the U.S.
