$192,000 – $216,000 (base) + equity + benefits

Product Policy — focused on developer platform safety (APIs, SDKs, third-party apps)

Reports To:

Senior Manager, Safety By Design Policy

🎯 Mission & Impact

Your mission is to embed safety into the DNA of Discord’s developer ecosystem by:

• Shaping and enforcing developer policies around public APIs and SDKs
• Partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure safety and ethical design
• Educating stakeholders internally and externally on responsible development practices

🔍 Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product, Legal, Engineering, Compliance, etc., to identify risks and build safety mitigations into product strategy
• Own and evolve the Discord Developer Policies
• Stay informed on internal tools, systems, developer activity, and safety implications
• Create training materials, guides, and presentations to promote responsible development
• Produce public-facing safety content (blog posts, Help Center articles)

⚠️ May involve reviewing sensitive content (e.g., threats, NSFW materials)

🧠 Required Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience with:
• APIs, SDKs, middleware, app stores, or open-source ecosystems
• Experience in trust & safety, ethical tech, or advocacy (esp. for vulnerable communities)
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Deep interest in tech’s social impact and mitigating harm online

• Programming background (esp. APIs)
• Familiarity with Discord’s platform and community
• International policy or NGO experience
• Multilingual communication skills
