Senior Blockchain Security Engineer, Offensive Security

Location: United States (Remote)

Salary Range: $186,065 - $218,900 USD + bonus + equity + benefits

Role Overview:

Join Coinbase’s Protocol Security team to secure all onchain development. Lead Red Team operations targeting blockchain products and protocols, perform threat modeling, and work cross-functionally to build and improve security frameworks and detection capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct threat modeling and security assessments for blockchain services.
• Plan and execute realistic Red Team exercises targeting complex blockchain systems.
• Write detailed technical reports with findings and security recommendations.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to enhance security posture.
• Provide expert guidance on new security tools and frameworks.
• Stay current on blockchain security trends, research, and vulnerabilities.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years experience in blockchain security.
• 3+ years Red Team experience with proven ability to find critical vulnerabilities in complex systems.
• Deep knowledge of blockchain protocols (L1/L2), DeFi, staking, etc.
• Skilled in designing defenses against known and emerging vulnerabilities.
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience collaborating with product, engineering, and security teams.
• Self-driven with a passion for continuous learning in the fast-moving crypto space.

Nice to Haves:

• Participation in CTFs, Bug Bounty programs, open source security research, or CVE analysis.
• Expertise in application, network, or cloud security.
• 1+ years software engineering experience.
