Role Summary:

Coinbase is seeking a skilled transactional attorney to handle complex commercial agreements, particularly in finance, payments, and digital assets. You'll support strategic initiatives, negotiate precedent-setting deals, and help build scalable, business-friendly legal frameworks.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Negotiate first-of-a-kind, complex agreements with strategic partners.
• Advise on legal risks, structures, and compliance in a fast-paced, risk-tolerant environment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (BD, Product, Finance, Engineering, Compliance, Tax, Legal).
• Create scalable legal strategies that enable fast-paced business growth.
• Serve as a business-minded legal partner, not just a compliance gatekeeper.
• Contribute to the product roadmap by spotting legal risks and solving problems early.

Requirements:

✅ JD or equivalent, licensed in a U.S. or international jurisdiction

✅ 6+ years of relevant experience in transactional law (law firm or in-house)

✅ Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, ideally in tech, payments, or finance

✅ Strong judgment, business sense, and collaboration skills

✅ Comfortable with both high-level strategy and roll-up-your-sleeves execution
