Role Overview:

As Senior Counsel, EU Regulatory Legal, you will work closely with business stakeholders, legal teams, and Compliance globally. This role will focus on providing legal guidance in the EU, particularly concerning MiCA, crypto regulation, e-money/payment services, and financial services law. You will manage legal policies, compliance processes, and product rollouts across Coinbase's expanding global business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide legal advice to executives and Compliance to ensure compliance with EU regulations regarding crypto, payment services, e-money, and digital currencies.
• Advise on legal matters relating to new products and services, banking partnerships, inter-company arrangements, and business terms.
• Ensure compliance when launching products in new jurisdictions, collaborating with legal teams globally.
• Monitor regulatory trends and provide guidance on new policy developments within the crypto and financial services space.
• Help shape Coinbase’s regulatory advocacy efforts, ensuring we stay aligned with global best practices and compliant with applicable laws.
• Oversee and manage relationships with outside counsel when necessary, building domain expertise in EU regulatory law.

What We Look For:

• Qualified solicitor in the UK or Ireland with 5-10 years of experience in a regulated financial services institution, such as e-money issuers, payment service firms, or asset managers, or in a law firm supporting such clients. In-house experience is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of EU financial services regulations and familiarity with regulators like the Central Bank of Ireland and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
• Ability to coordinate complex projects, navigate multiple time zones, and manage challenging legal issues and deadlines.
• Experience in working with cross-functional teams, delivering coordinated legal advice and practical guidance.
• Exceptional judgment, analytical skills, and the ability to provide clear and actionable legal advice.
• Self-driven with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
• Strong writing skills and ability to synthesize complex legal issues for various stakeholders.
• Ability to manage a large, varied workload with commercial pragmatism and attention to detail.
• Highly motivated, with a proactive and flexible approach.

Compensation:

• Target annual salary: €149,400 EUR
• Full-time offers also include target bonus, equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision).
