About the Role

Coinbase is looking for an experienced Senior Data Science Manager to lead their Developer Data Science team. This team plays a critical role in driving the company's mission to onboard one billion people onchain and is working on cutting-edge web3 applications. You’ll manage a fast-growing team, mentor data scientists, and work closely with Product and Engineering teams to deliver insights that guide decisions and priorities. This role will be key to fostering a culture of data-driven experimentation and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and grow a team of data scientists, building solid working relationships with product teams.
• Strategic Partnership: Act as a thought partner to product teams and executives, leading data-based analyses to prioritize product opportunities and make actionable recommendations.
• Process Standardization: Develop scalable processes for analysis, modeling, and experimentation. Set best practices to help the team solve pain points and meet goals.
• Communication: Create a clear communication structure and cadence for your team, synthesizing data findings into compelling stories to communicate across Coinbase.
• Business Metrics Ownership: Take responsibility for business performance metrics and performance management.
• Data Systems & Automation: Drive organizational-level initiatives to scale insights through improved systems and automation.

What Coinbase is Looking For

Required Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a similar field.
• 5+ years of experience leading a high-performing data science or analytics team.
• 10+ years of experience providing business insights and driving data science initiatives.
• Expertise in analytics tools (SQL, R, Python), data visualization, and data science applications.
• Deep knowledge of data models, experimental design, and execution.
• Experience in internal and external storytelling and executive presentations.
• Ability to oversee large, complex, cross-functional initiatives.
• Exceptional communication skills, able to translate complex data insights into accessible language for various stakeholders.
• Self-driven with the ability to create plans for analytics projects and build collaboration within the team.

Nice to Haves:

• Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a similar field.
• Experience with causal inference models and synthetic experimentation.
• Domain experience in Fintech product and growth areas.
• Experience manipulating large amounts of structured and unstructured data.
