Job Overview

The Senior Data Scientist will play a crucial role in leveraging data to drive strategic decision-making at Coinbase. Working closely with Product, Engineering, and Design teams, you will utilize experimentation, analytics, and advanced modeling to generate insights that influence our company’s bottom line. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statistical analysis, business intelligence, and machine learning, along with a passion for blockchain technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct deep analysis on complex and ambiguous business problems to drive data-driven decision-making.
• Own a broad scope of data and metrics, including core logging and data visualization.
• Guide code reviews, provide SQL and Python expertise, and maintain well-documented ETL jobs.
• Ensure statistical rigor in experimentation and causal analyses to build confidence in data-driven insights.
• Synthesize data learnings into compelling narratives that influence external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• A BA/BS in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, etc.) with 5+ years of relevant experience OR a PhD with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead impactful data science projects in ambiguous problem spaces.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable business strategies.
• Expertise in SQL and Python for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
• Experience applying complex modeling frameworks to real-world business problems.
• Background in working with digital products in an iterative development cycle.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a high-growth technology or financial services company.
• Familiarity with blockchain technology and the crypto ecosystem.
• Knowledge of big data technologies such as Spark, Snowflake, or Hadoop.
• Experience designing and analyzing A/B tests and other experimentation methodologies.
