🎯 Role Overview

You’ll design the tools and experiences that game studios use to build, integrate, and manage their presence on Discord—from onboarding and documentation to dashboards, analytics, and marketing features. Your work will impact both studio teams and the millions of players who use Discord to connect with games they love.

This role is part of Discord’s Developer Platform Team, which is responsible for enabling studios to connect with players while enhancing the in-app experience through official game communities, rich integrations, and custom tools.

🛠️ What You’ll Be Doing

• Own Design Across the Studio Lifecycle: From onboarding to post-launch insights and self-serve tools.
• Design from Concept to Launch: Wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and final pixel-perfect UI across platforms (web, desktop, mobile, and possibly console).
• Lead Design Quality and Vision: Set the quality bar, give feedback, identify design debt, and push for improvement through iterative testing/playtesting.
• Define UX Strategy: Partner cross-functionally with PMs, engineers, and data scientists to define and influence product direction.
• Contribute to Design Systems: Help evolve the internal design system with scalable patterns and accessible components.
• Advocate for Developer Needs: Build empathy with game studios and community managers to design tools that empower them.

✅ What You Should Bring

• 5+ Years in End-to-End Product Design: Across desktop, web, mobile, or console. You’ve owned features or product areas and shipped at scale.
• Strong Design Leadership: You’ve driven vision and strategy for a squad or team and are comfortable influencing direction across disciplines.
• Developer Empathy: Deep interest in or experience building tools for technical users (developer platforms, APIs, analytics dashboards, etc.).
• Expert in Visual and Interaction Design: High bar for typography, layout, color, and UI polish. Proficient in Figma and high-fidelity prototyping tools (Framer, ProtoPie, etc.).
• Clear Communicator: Able to pitch designs clearly, write strategic design docs, and influence with data, storytelling, and product rationale.
• Fluent in Product Thinking: You understand the “why” and translate it into intuitive, delightful experiences that deliver measurable value.
• Design System Contributor: Experience building or evolving design systems and crafting reusable UI components.

• Background in game development, studio tooling, community building, or dev rel.
• Experience designing B2B2C platforms or multi-sided ecosystems.
• Familiarity with metrics like DAU/MAU, user engagement, and platform monetization.
