Senior Product Designer, Safety (Temporary Position)

📌 Role Overview

Discord is hiring a Senior Product Designer for its Safety team in a temporary, remote (US-based only) position. This role focuses on crafting user experiences that ensure privacy, safety, and trust on the platform. You'll work on both user-facing and backend-integrated design challenges to support Discord’s mission of making online interactions secure and enjoyable for over 200 million users.

✅ Key Responsibilities

• Design solutions that balance user needs, backend constraints, and business goals to improve safety and privacy on Discord.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Analytics teams to define and shape product features.
• Create complete design flows, mockups, and prototypes, and ensure high-quality implementation.
• Clearly present your work to teams and stakeholders to build consensus.
• Test, learn, and iterate continuously to improve product outcomes.
• Contribute to and help maintain Discord’s Design System to ensure consistency and scalability.

🧠 Required Experience & Skills

• 5+ years of experience designing modern, consumer-facing digital products (mobile and desktop).
• Proven ability to create high-quality visual and interaction designs with attention to detail and user delight.
• A portfolio showcasing high-impact work where you were the primary designer, especially on privacy, safety, or trust-focused features.
• Experience working with or contributing to a Design System.
• Strong collaborative and communication skills, including the ability to drive strategy through design.
• Proactive mindset—you initiate ideas and align them with cross-functional teams to shape product direction.

🏷️ Compensation

• Base Salary: $196,000 – $220,500 (USD)
• Benefits: Includes equity and other standard Discord employee benefits
