💼 Role Overview:

• Lead and implement Discord’s regulatory response strategy for UK/EU and Australia on online safety, content moderation, and compliance.
• Navigate a fast-evolving regulatory landscape—this role requires flexibility and adaptability.
• Collaborate closely with product counsel, public policy, and communications teams.
• Engage directly with regulators: prepare responses, meet with authorities, and represent Discord’s compliance approach.
• Maintain company templates and policies on privacy, security, teen safety, etc.
• Potentially assist with consumer complaints, small claims, and defensive legal matters.

✅ What You Should Have:

• 10+ years’ experience in regulatory legal practice focusing on Internet regulation: user safety, privacy, data protection, consumer protection.
• Deep knowledge of UK/EU/Australia regulations such as the UK & Australian Online Safety Acts, EU Digital Services Act, GDPR, AI Act, privacy and consumer protection laws.
• Experience interacting with regulatory agencies in UK, EU, and/or Australia.
• Licensed to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction.
• Experience with companies in social media, communications, messaging, or gaming.
• Strong project management, strategic judgment, and collaborative skills.
• High emotional intelligence and commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
