About the Role

Discord is where over 200 million people connect monthly—especially around gaming. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Game Integrations team, you'll help create seamless experiences that connect users through gameplay across platforms. This role blends product-focused engineering with direct collaboration alongside external developer partners, game engines, and community systems.

What You'll Do

• Build features that enhance user connections and game-centric interactions across desktop and mobile.
• Partner with game developers to bring deeper Discord integrations and community tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, Data Science, ML, and Marketing) to build fun and trusted social experiences.
• Develop discovery, recommendation, and ranking systems to help users find games and friends.
• Work across a wide range of technologies—from game engines to scalable backends.

What You Should Have

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with Unity, Unreal, or other game engines.
• Strong backend and frontend experience (e.g., Python, React).
• Ability to switch tech stacks and work closely with cross-functional teams.
• Passion for gaming, social tools, and community-driven design.
• You're a Discord user and want to improve the platform!

Bonus Points

• Experience shipping games or social features on Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, or Switch.
• Familiarity with Steamworks, Playfab, or Epic Games Online Services.
• Background in social or multiplayer game development.
