💸 Compensation

• Salary Range: $180,625 – $218,900 USD (depending on location)

🚀 Mission & Team

The Core Reliability team is part of Coinbase's Platform organization. This team is responsible for:

• Ensuring the scalability and reliability of Coinbase’s infrastructure.
• Managing load testing, safe release pipelines (canary deployments), and secure service configuration systems.
• Supporting company-wide goals to scale infrastructure 10x–50x.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

• Build and optimize scalable and reliable infrastructure systems.
• Define and track key reliability and observability metrics.
• Automate infrastructure processes to eliminate manual toil.
• Collaborate on tuning and improving cloud deployments (e.g., AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform).
• Drive adoption of safe deployment mechanisms across thousands of services.
• Identify systemic reliability issues and engineer long-term solutions.
• Mentor other engineers and champion reliability across Coinbase.
• Debug hard, low-level system problems and contribute to architectural improvements.

✅ Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Hands-on experience building and scaling production infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of observability, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Solid coding and system design skills.
• Experience with:
• Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Infrastructure tools (Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker)
• Service-oriented architecture
• Strong communication and mentoring skills.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive under pressure and handle complex problems.

✨ Nice to Haves

• Experience in Go, Ruby, or Terraform.
• Background in high-throughput, low-latency systems.
• Familiarity with Kibana, Datadog, or similar monitoring platforms.
• Experience in regulated industries (e.g., fintech).
• Writing technical content (e.g., training docs, blog posts).
• Experience in hyper-growth environments.
