Overview

Coinbase is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Datastores Infrastructure Team, which powers Coinbase’s core systems by managing scalable, reliable distributed databases like MongoDB, Postgres, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redis, and more. This team provides paved, production-grade solutions to internal teams building Web3 applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate large-scale database infrastructure
• Drive innovation in database scalability, performance, and reliability
• Advise on technology choices, system design, and vendor partnerships
• Write robust, tested backend code in Go, Java, or Python
• Support database systems through troubleshooting and on-call rotation
• Track industry trends and adopt new technologies to enhance systems

Requirements

• 5+ years in backend or infrastructure engineering
• Experience with cloud-native databases and distributed systems
• Strong database tuning, architecture, and operational skills
• Hands-on experience in Golang, Java, or Python
• Excellent communication with cross-functional teams

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with Web3 and crypto-related tools (Ethereum, ENS, dApps)
• Experience in high-growth environments and production incident response
