Team Mission – Identity & Regulatory Platform

The Identity & Regulatory team builds the critical infrastructure powering secure, compliant access to Coinbase’s products. The team’s goal is to deliver a seamless, unified experience for customer identity, onboarding, and authorization across the crypto ecosystem while meeting the highest regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build scalable, secure, and compliant backend systems focused on identity and regulatory infrastructure.
• Define and execute the multi-year technical strategy in collaboration with engineering leadership.
• Lead complex platform initiatives while providing technical mentorship and guidance to other engineers.
• Own the full software development lifecycle — from concept and design to testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, design, and senior leadership to shape the roadmap and deliver high-impact solutions.
• Drive engineering excellence by contributing high-quality code and establishing best practices in architecture and software development.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Engage with upstream teams and enforce data SLAs for availability and quality.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
• 4+ years of experience architecting big data systems using technologies like Apache Spark and Hive.
• Strong technical leadership with the ability to influence cross-functional initiatives and mentor engineers.
• Proven expertise in building highly reliable, scalable, and secure backend systems.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Passion for crypto and building an open financial system.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Golang, gRPC, Docker, and SQL.
• Background in finance, accounting, or compliance systems.
• Experience in performance tuning of large-scale big data systems.
