Team Overview

The AI and Automation team is focused on building Agentic AI systems to automate customer support and compliance. The long-term vision includes developing platforms and tools that allow other teams at Coinbase to leverage AI for automating various business processes and enhancing customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement Agentic AI systems for support and compliance automation.
• Build platforms and primitives to support scalable AI integrations across the company.
• Work closely with product and operations teams to translate business needs into engineering solutions.
• Lead architecture discussions and project execution for high-impact initiatives.
• Mentor engineers, set coding standards, and drive engineering excellence.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code using Go and related technologies.
• Contribute to the strategic direction of the AI and Automation platform.

Requirements

• 12+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Expertise in Golang or similar languages.
• Strong domain knowledge in fintech, trading systems, or financial operations.
• Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency systems.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and scalable architectures.
• Ability to work through ambiguity and deliver large, impactful systems.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Passion for open financial systems and innovation in crypto.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with LLMs and Agentic AI systems.
• Experience reducing hallucinations and improving LLM grounding.
• Background in customer support, compliance, or financial crimes automation.
• Experience with buy vs build technical decision-making.
