Overview

Coinbase is hiring a Senior Staff Backend Engineer to join its Risk Engineering team within the Platform Product Group. This team builds critical infrastructure to protect users and the business from financial threats such as fraud, while enabling scale and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and implement the next-gen Risk Platform
• Build and maintain high-throughput, low-latency services in Golang
• Lead large, cross-functional technical initiatives
• Shape strategy and roadmap of risk engineering systems
• Collaborate with financial ops, engineering, and product teams
• Mentor engineers, uphold coding best practices

Requirements

• 12+ years of backend experience, ideally in Golang or similar
• Expertise in designing and scaling distributed systems
• Proven impact in large-scale risk mitigation systems
• Strong communication and stakeholder alignment
• Relentless problem-solving mindset and passion for crypto’s future

Nice to Have

• Risk engineering domain expertise
• Experience with machine learning integration in risk systems
• Exposure to both startups and enterprise environments
