Role Overview:

Discord is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) for Cost & Efficiency to drive cost-saving initiatives and ensure sustainable growth. This role involves collaborating with engineering, product, and data teams to optimize infrastructure costs, manage vendor relationships, and develop a scalable cost attribution platform. The TPM will help ensure Discord remains efficient as it scales while providing actionable insights on financial impacts.

Responsibilities:

Optimize Infrastructure Costs:

• Work with infrastructure, data, and ML teams to implement strategies for reducing infrastructure expenses.

Reduce Data Query Costs:

• Partner with data science and engineering teams to optimize query and analysis costs.

Analyze Cost-to-Serve:

• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to evaluate the cost-to-serve key features and provide actionable insights.

Scalable Cost Attribution Platform:

• Design and build a platform for cost metadata to enable cost observability and alerting.

Run Capacity Management Programs:

• Manage capacity planning initiatives with cloud vendors to ensure efficiency and cost alignment.

Support Product Teams:

• Serve as a consultant for product teams, helping them understand the cost implications of new features.

Vendor Management:

• Manage infrastructure vendor relationships, oversee contracts, and handle negotiations.

What You Bring:

Required:

• Strong data analysis skills, including proficiency with building dashboards and visualizations.
• Proven experience developing and managing cost-focused programs in mid-scale or larger companies.
• Ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and data teams.
• Strategic thinking to provide practical solutions to complex cost structures.
• Vendor management skills, particularly with cloud vendors like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Proactive problem-solving skills with the ability to drive efficiency improvements.

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience with cost management tools in large-scale infrastructure environments.
• Familiarity with Discord or other large-scale platforms.

Compensation:

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $196,000 to $220,000 plus equity and benefits.
