About the Job

Coinbase's Base team is aiming to bring a million developers and billions of users onchain. This position focuses on building and scaling secure smart contract protocols to connect Coinbase users with the broader crypto ecosystem. Base is built on Optimism's OP Stack, and this role will contribute to the open-source crypto ecosystem and work on decentralized infrastructure for the crypto economy.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and build secure smart contract protocols and backend services for the crypto ecosystem.
• Drive standardization in crypto protocols and define smart contract interfaces.
• Work closely with Base leadership and product teams to set onchain strategies and roadmaps.
• Mentor and train team members on smart contract engineering best practices.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience with Solidity and smart contract development.
• 3+ years of backend/client-side development experience.
• Deep understanding of smart contract best practices and industry patterns.
• Experience with crypto technologies (Ethereum, DeFi, etc.).
• Passion for building secure, scalable infrastructure in the crypto space.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with Go programming.
• Familiarity with zero-knowledge technology.
• Contributions to open-source crypto projects.
• Crypto-forward experience, such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, or engaging with dApps or blockchain services.
