Role Summary

Join Coinbase’s backend engineering team to help decompose a legacy monolithic system into scalable microservices. You’ll contribute to building high-performance, secure, and reliable systems that support millions of crypto users globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Decompose a monolithic Rails application into microservices
• Design and maintain scalable, high-reliability backend systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, design) to deliver impactful features
• Write clean, well-tested code and contribute to architectural discussions
• Support the long-term vision of Coinbase’s backend infrastructure

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in backend software engineering
• Experience designing, scaling, and maintaining production systems
• Proficiency in service-oriented architecture (SOA)
• Strong coding standards and testing discipline
• Passion for open financial systems and crypto innovation

Nice to Have

• Experience with Golang, Ruby (Rails/Sinatra), Docker, Postgres, MongoDB, or Redshift
• Background in blockchain technologies (Bitcoin, Ethereum)
• Experience decomposing monoliths or scaling systems through hyper-growth
• Exposure to A/B testing or growth experimentation
• Experience in building secure or financial systems
