🧠 About the Role

This position is part of Coinbase’s Consumer Product Group, focused on building the easiest and most secure crypto experiences for mainstream users. The team powers products like the Coinbase app, wallet, staking, and dApp integrations.

You’ll help scale backend systems, migrate from a monolithic Rails app to microservices, and design secure infrastructure in a high-frequency, real-time environment. It’s an opportunity to work on critical systems that serve millions of global users.

🔧 What You’ll Do

• Decompose the legacy Rails monolith into microservices.
• Define long-term vision for backend architecture scalability and maintainability.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to turn vision into a quarterly roadmap.
• Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code.

✅ What Coinbase Is Looking For

• 2+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience building and maintaining production services (especially SOA).
• Strong backend coding practices and test coverage.
• Passion for open finance and crypto adoption.

✨ Nice to Haves

• Experience in fast-growth startups or product scaling.
• Familiarity with A/B testing and growth features.
• Background in blockchain systems (Ethereum, Bitcoin, etc.).
• Experience with:
• Golang, Ruby, Rails, Sinatra
• Postgres, MongoDB, Redshift
• Docker
• Security or fintech development experience.
• Prior use of crypto wallets, ENS, and dApps (crypto-forward mindset).
