About the Role

We are seeking talented backend engineers to work on our Consumer Product Group, focusing on developing and improving the Coinbase retail app. Our goal is to be the #1 self-custody wallet, and we aim to revolutionize how people access and interact with crypto products. You will be working on innovative features for the Coinbase app, including advanced trade, staking, and decentralized apps (dApps).

Key Responsibilities

• Decompose our monolithic Rails application into microservices.
• Design, implement, and scale backend services with long-term maintainability in mind.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and leadership to define roadmaps and execute on them.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code that meets the needs of consumers.

Requirements

• At least 2+ years of experience in backend software engineering.
• Experience building, scaling, and maintaining production-grade services and working with service-oriented architecture.
• Proficiency in writing high-quality, well-tested backend code.
• A passion for building an open financial system and contributing to the crypto ecosystem.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in fast-growing companies, especially from startup to mid-size.
• Familiarity with blockchain technologies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.).
• Experience decomposing large monoliths into microservices.
• Proficiency with technologies like Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB, or Redshift.
• Experience with financial systems or building high-reliability and secure systems.
• Crypto-forward experience, such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and working with decentralized apps (dApps).

Compensation & Benefits

💰 Salary Range: $147,000 USD – $174,000 USD

🎯 Includes: Base salary + target bonus + target equity + benefits (medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
