Software Engineer – Blockchain Platform (Staking Validators)
Location: Remote (U.S.-based)
Salary Range: $152,405 – $179,300 USD
About the Role
Coinbase is seeking a software engineer to join its Staking Validators team, which operates the world’s largest fleet of staking nodes. This role is ideal for engineers with a strong infrastructure and blockchain background who want to work at scale on high-impact systems. As a protocol owner, you’ll act like a “Protocol CTO,” taking full technical responsibility for validator operations on your assigned blockchain(s), including optimizing node performance, engaging with crypto communities, and driving innovation in staking architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy and maintain high-availability blockchain validator nodes
- Optimize staking operations for performance, uptime, and rewards
- Develop tooling for observability, automation, and scalability
- Collaborate cross-functionally with infrastructure, product, and protocol teams
- Stay deeply involved in blockchain ecosystems and innovation trends
What Coinbase Looks For
- Experience in large-scale infrastructure (Kubernetes, observability tools)
- Proficiency in systems programming, DevOps, and distributed systems
- Deep knowledge or strong interest in blockchain, crypto, and proof-of-stake networks
- Passion for high-performance, fault-tolerant architecture
