• Salary Range: $207,000 - $244,000 USD (plus bonus and benefits)

About the Role:

You will work on Coinbase’s data engineering team, focusing on blockchain data. Your main mission is to build and maintain reliable, scalable data pipelines and trusted data sources that enable data science productivity, self-serve analytics, and robust data quality. This role requires deep blockchain knowledge combined with strong data engineering skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and build data models specifically for blockchain data (blocks, transactions, token transfers, contracts, UTXOs, labeling).
• Develop ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest and transform blockchain data from APIs, files, and databases into clean usable formats.
• Build tooling to measure and enforce data quality and reliability.
• Create developer tools to automate data science workflows and enhance efficiency.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Data Science, ML, Data Platform, and Analytics teams to align on priorities and deliverables.
• Enable stakeholders to self-serve analytics by making blockchain data accessible and understandable.

Required Skills:

• Blockchain expertise: Deep understanding of blockchain data concepts and experience using blockchain data tools (e.g., Dune, Arkham).
• Python: Advanced coding skills in Python; experience with Go or other languages is a plus.
• SQL: Expert in SQL for data querying, transformation, and performance optimization; familiarity with graph/key-value databases a plus.
• Data compute frameworks: Experience with Spark, Flink, Beam, or similar is a plus.
• ETL/ELT: Proven ability to design, build, and optimize pipelines for large datasets; experience with batch and streaming data.
• Apache Airflow: Experience building and maintaining DAGs or similar workflow orchestration tools.
• Data modeling: Knowledge of star schemas, snowflake schemas, normalization; experience with blockchain or financial data modeling is a bonus.
• Collaboration: Strong communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and document processes.
• DevOps: Familiarity with unit testing, CI/CD, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
• Prompt Engineering for LLMs: Experience leveraging large language models and AI tools in workflows, including embeddings and vector search (nice to have).
