Staff Machine Learning Engineer – Coinbase (Base Ads/Spindl) | Remote

Job Description:

As the founding Machine Learning Engineer for the Base Ads/Spindl team, you will lead the development of Spindl’s onchain ad ranking system and ML infrastructure from the ground up. You will work on cutting-edge technologies in deep learning, LLMs, and graph neural networks to build transparent, performant, and privacy-respecting advertising systems on the blockchain.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deploy scalable ML models for feed ranking, targeting, fraud detection, and attribution across the onchain advertising stack.
• Develop backend systems and production pipelines to support real-time ML-driven ad serving.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, data science, and protocol teams to define the architecture of Flywheel, Spindl’s ads protocol.
• Evaluate and implement best-in-class tools and infrastructure to enable ML democratization across Base.
• Contribute to onboarding materials, developer tools, and internal ML infrastructure to accelerate adoption and experimentation.
