As a Staff Product Designer at Discord, you will help shape the future of social gaming experiences and define the standard for design quality within Discord. You'll work with the Social Layer (Slayer) team to integrate social features directly into games, collaborating with top gaming platforms like Xbox and PlayStation. This role offers the opportunity to create seamless, compelling, and visually integrated social experiences for millions of users.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Visual Quality Leadership: Set the standard for visual quality on your team (Slayer), ensuring high production standards and continuous improvement.
• Collaboration with Partners: Work with gaming platforms and studios to tailor experiences that match their UX and visual style.
• Vision Setting: Partner with the Slayer Design Director to lead vision-setting initiatives and present designs to peers and executives to gain alignment.
• Roadmap Influence: Contribute to the team’s roadmap with a deep understanding of the product space and lead discussions on the “how” of product strategy.
• Design System Contribution: Identify opportunities to improve and contribute to the design system, ensuring consistency across the organization.
• Culture Building: Foster an open and honest communication culture within the team, encouraging learning and constructive feedback.

What You Should Have:

• Experience: 7+ years of experience designing consumer-facing products, ideally in gaming or interactive experiences.
• Gaming Passion: A strong passion for video games and gaming experiences.
• Leadership: Confidence in executing and coaching others in design decisions, leading discussions, and communicating with executives.
• Storytelling Skills: Ability to communicate design decisions compellingly across multiple mediums and levels.
• Strategic Vision: A focus on understanding the "why" behind design decisions to create strategic product perspectives.
• Design Craftsmanship: High-level design craft and commitment to maintaining a high bar for implementation through detailed iterations and QA.
• Portfolio: A portfolio showcasing impactful design projects across devices, where you led large-scale projects, including leadership experience with teams.
• Design Systems: Experience with or contribution to a design system.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Base Salary: $220,000 to $247,500 annually, based on experience, plus equity and benefits.
