Overview:

Coinbase is hiring a senior infrastructure engineer to scale and improve its Kubernetes-based compute platform. This is a high-impact role in the Compute team, focusing on automation, developer experience, system reliability, and Kubernetes feature development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and automate tools for managing Kubernetes clusters
• Improve developer and operational experience with Kubernetes
• Develop self-healing, low-maintenance infrastructure systems
• Build new Kubernetes capabilities (e.g. cron jobs, EFS support, deployment strategies)
• Support service teams using Kubernetes at Coinbase

Basic Requirements:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes or similar systems (Mesos, Nomad)
• Strong experience with AWS and/or GCP
• Ability to build backend systems as well as infrastructure
• Strong problem-solving, system design, and debugging skills
• Self-driven, quality-focused, and collaborative
• Experience scaling backend infrastructure
