Position Overview:

As a Senior Platform Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to align cloud solutions with business objectives, ensuring that the infrastructure is secure, scalable, cost-efficient, and performant. Your expertise will directly contribute to the success of CoinDesk’s cloud environment, supporting its evolving infrastructure needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and Deployment: Build, deploy, and manage scalable and secure cloud infrastructure on GCP.
• Collaboration: Work with development, operations, and security teams to define cloud architecture and implement best practices.
• Automation: Automate cloud operations and manage infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform or Terragrunt.
• Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor the cloud infrastructure, identify performance issues, and ensure high availability and reliability.
• Optimization: Optimize resources for cost-efficiency without compromising on performance and security.
• Incident Response: Lead troubleshooting and incident response efforts for cloud-related issues.
• Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering innovation and continuous learning within the team.
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud infrastructure and processes.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Cloud Infrastructure: Proven experience designing and managing cloud environments, especially in GCP or AWS.
• Kubernetes Expertise: Strong experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration tools.
• Infrastructure as Code: Expertise with tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
• Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python or Bash).
• Cloud Security: In-depth knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks.
• CI/CD & DevOps: Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to perform under pressure.
• Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications: Relevant cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect.
• Containerization: Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Hybrid/Multi-cloud: Experience with hybrid cloud environments or multi-cloud strategies.
