Responsibilities

1. People Management:
2. Lead, support, and grow a team of engineers.
3. Foster a culture of ownership, resilience, and authenticity.
4. Technical Leadership:
5. Collaborate with technical leads to define system architecture and establish best practices.
6. Provide guidance on technical decisions.
7. Operational Efficiency:
8. Improve processes for effective collaboration and reduce bottlenecks.
9. Team Growth:
10. Recruit, onboard, and mentor engineers, identifying talent gaps.
11. Stakeholder Collaboration:
12. Work closely with Product, Design, and Business teams to align on priorities.
13. Incident Response and Reliability:
14. Ensure high system availability and reliability.
15. Oversee incident reviews and address lessons learned.

Required Skills & Experience

• Engineering Background: Previous experience as a software engineer, particularly in frontend or infrastructure.
• You'll be expected to understand technical trade-offs, assess difficulty, and support engineers.
• Proven Leadership: Experience managing engineers in fast-paced environments. You should be able to empower your team and build a strong team culture.
• Organizational & Communication Skills: Strong at managing multiple stakeholders and communicating effectively.
• Ownership Mentality: Ability to identify solutions and push them forward with minimal oversight.
• Resilience: Ability to guide your team through uncertainty and change.
• DeFi Understanding (Nice to Have): Familiarity with Solana, AMMs, or decentralized finance.

• Salary: $180,000 - $230,000 USDC (for US employees).
• Token Allocation: 70,000 - 150,000 ORCA over 4 years.

Hiring Process

1. Initial Screen (50-60 min): Understanding your experience with Solana and DeFi, followed by a technical evaluation.
2. Engineering Round (60 min each): Interviews with team members (Head of Engineering, Senior Engineers) focused on leadership, technical alignment, and communication skills.
3. COO Chat (20 min): A conversation with Isaac (COO) to learn about Orca’s vision.
