About the Role

Flashbots is looking for a Protocol Engineer to join our team, specializing in distributed systems and scaling. This role is perfect for a proactive problem solver who thrives on deep technical challenges, has strong communication skills, and a builder mentality.

As a Protocol Engineer, you’ll contribute to a cutting-edge distributed system, navigating the nuanced trade-offs between latency, privacy, fault tolerance, and incentives.

What You’ll Do

• Spearhead SUAVE and SUAPPS development, leveraging your expertise in Rust and Go.
• Develop high-performance, battle-tested code while optimizing Flashbots' protocols.
• Collaborate with top mechanism designers at the intersection of incentives and distributed systems.
• Produce clear, comprehensive technical documentation and diagrams.
• Champion community engagement and strategic crypto partnerships.

What We Look For

• Proven mastery of distributed systems and blockchain, with extensive experience solving challenges in Rust.
• Significant open-source contributions to Ethereum or other mission-driven projects, with active community involvement.
• Flexibility, accountability, and focus on delivering high-impact solutions, balancing individual contributor execution with cross-functional collaboration.
• A proactive problem-solver with a passion for continuous improvement.

Nice to Haves

• Expertise in Ethereum clients or adjacent blockchain infrastructure.
• Strong background in smart contract development.
• Thought leadership in open-source projects or protocol specifications.
• Comprehensive understanding of Ethereum's scaling roadmap and the broader crypto landscape.
