Job Overview
GitHub is seeking an experienced Solutions Engineer III to provide technical sales support for our mid-market enterprise customers. This role requires strong technical acumen, business strategy alignment, and customer-centric problem-solving skills to help organizations integrate GitHub’s AI-powered developer platform into their software development lifecycle (SDLC).
As a trusted advisor, you will work closely with sales and product teams to identify customer challenges, align GitHub’s solutions with business needs, and drive digital transformation. This role is ideal for candidates passionate about DevSecOps, software development best practices, and enabling customers to build, scale, and deliver secure software efficiently.
Responsibilities
Customer & Industry Insights
- Understand and analyze customer business needs, aligning them with GitHub’s product offerings.
- Challenge assumptions with constructive dialogue about technology and business transformation.
- Gather feedback to enhance GitHub’s product roadmap and customer experience.
- Provide innovative solutions that drive efficiency in new industries.
Trusted Advisor
- Guide internal and external stakeholders on GitHub’s capabilities and DevSecOps principles.
- Advise customers on embedding GitHub’s platform into their development workflows.
- Conduct live demonstrations and technical discussions with diverse audiences.
- Motivate technical resources within customer organizations to drive adoption.
Technology Strategy Formulation
- Assess customer challenges and recommend GitHub solutions.
- Develop strategic technology roadmaps to enhance customer business outcomes.
- Bridge customer requirements with GitHub’s technical capabilities.
Customer Enablement
- Assist in customer onboarding, integration, and skilling initiatives.
- Answer product-related inquiries and support integration with existing tools.
- Conduct technical training sessions and enablement workshops.
- Provide technical guidance for GitHub’s adoption within enterprise environments.
Sales & Marketing Support
- Partner with sales teams to identify and address customer technical pain points.
- Support marketing events and contribute to content creation.
- Conduct proofs of concept and post-sales demonstrations.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in technical consulting, pre-sales engineering, software development, or related roles.
- OR Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field with 3+ years of experience.
- OR Master’s degree in a related field with 1+ year of experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of SDLC, DevOps, and DevSecOps.
- Experience with source control management (SCM), Git, and CI/CD workflows.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Public speaking experience and ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of AI’s impact on developer tools and software engineering.
- Experience working with large software development teams.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $66,430 - $176,260 per year.
- On-target earnings (OTE): Based on a 70/30 base salary/sales incentive structure.
- Annual bonuses, stock options, and additional rewards based on performance.
