Job Overview
Amazon Japan is expanding its logistics and transportation network to deliver exceptional customer experiences. This role in Procurement Strategy & Planning focuses on securing long-term and short-term transportation capacity across Japan by working closely with carrier partners and cross-functional Amazon teams (Planning, Fulfillment Centers, Systems, Finance, etc.).
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Strategy & Capacity Planning
- Support short-term procurement planning based on long-term strategy.
- Set metrics and actions to track progress.
- Evaluate carriers based on performance (quality, capacity, cost) to control procurement volume and ensure flexibility and quality.
Quotation to Order Management
- Handle continuous quotation requests due to expanding transport needs.
- Analyze, streamline, and improve processes for obtaining accurate, cost-effective quotes.
- Manage quotation-to-order workflows ensuring alignment with conditions.
Daily Activities
- Coordinate with various Amazon departments and transportation providers.
- Build trusted relationships across stakeholders to drive improvements.
- Work in a flexible, no-core-time schedule, reporting to the Meguro office.
Key Job Responsibilities (Time Allocation)
- 20% – Short-term procurement planning
- 80% – Quotation and order management process improvement
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (4-year university)
- Proficient in Excel (functions like VLOOKUP, SUMIF, Pivot Tables)
- Business-level Japanese (documents, meetings, internal/external comms)
Preferred Qualifications
- Business-level English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Knowledge of SCM/logistics (especially parcel delivery practices)
- Experience with SQL and high IT literacy
- Strong analytical/problem-solving and stakeholder management skills
- 2+ years in one or more of the following:
- Logistics/transportation planning
- Procurement in manufacturing/retail
- Corporate sales
- Logistics-focused IT/consulting work
- Experience with route planning software or transportation optimization
- Passion for inclusivity and working in diverse teams
