About the Role:

Slack’s Product Security Foundations (PSF) group is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Backend (Product Security) to develop secure-by-default libraries, tools, and frameworks for Slack engineers. This role focuses on authentication, authorization, cryptography, and security automation, ensuring a frictionless yet highly secure development process.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of authentication, authorization, and cryptographic security at Slack.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Technical Program Managers to define security roadmaps and strategies.
• Partner with cross-functional teams and leadership to drive security awareness and best practices.
• Conduct security training and technical demonstrations for engineering teams.
• Automate security processes where appropriate to enhance scalability and efficiency.
• Identify and address security risks in Slack’s development ecosystem.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience in software development and security engineering.
• Strong expertise in software engineering best practices and secure coding principles.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages (Python, Java, Go, or similar).
• Experience with Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) and AWS security frameworks.
• Strong background in authentication, authorization, and cryptographic protocols.
• Proven ability to design and operate security services at scale.
• Experience leading security projects and influencing technical direction across teams.
